Welcome to my homepage. My given name is Robert Michael Harman, but most people call me Auros. (The first vowel is the same as the one in "odd", and the next bit is like "roast" without the /t/ sound. The accent is on the first syllable. |

I worked for several years as a Reviews Editor for Strange Horizons, the Hugo-nominated weekly speculative fiction magazine. If you're into sf, check it out. |

I have a resumé, which may interest you if you need to fill coding, tech support, or other such computer-related jobs, especially if your business involves lots of text in foreign languages.

In January 2003, I finally got up the energy to tell all the various spammers to take a hike. Yay New Year's resolutions. A very useful tool in this process is the Center for Democracy and Technology's Opt-Out Website. You can use their secure server to generate personalized forms for your bank, the various credit unions, and other miscellany. They also have info on a variety of online opt-out tools. Another useful item to know is that (at least last I checked) you can call 1-888-567-8688 to opt out of all the "pre-approved" credit card offers. Make sure to listen to all the options -- when I tried it, they were including an "opt out for two years" option on the list before the "opt out permanently" option. Sneaky. Note that you can only register one individual per call, so it'll take multiple calls if you want to cover a multi-person household. Note also that you need the SSN for each person you want to register. Last, but not least, there's a federal do-not-call list that you can get on, and if a telemarketer calls you in violation, they can theoretically be fined for it.
